Twitter LOLCat language setting (Updated)

Twitter has started testing out a new language translation on the site. So instead of plain old English you can change your language to LOLCATZ (Beta). For those who are unfamiliar with lol cats, those are the funny pictures of cats with captions floating around the internet.

But anyways, I decided to try it. Stuff like “Interactions” turn into “INTERACSHUNS”, “Worldwide Trends” turn into “WURLDWIDE TRENDS”, “follows you” becomes “FOLLOWS U” and so on.

Twitter’s new language setting reminds me a lot of Facebook’s Pirate and it’s upside down language translations. It also reminds me of Google leetspeak. These are the only funny little language easter eggs I know off the top of my head. Know more?

The LOLCat language setting seems to have disappeared and my language setting defaulted back to English. Not sure if this is a glitch or if the language was only ment for a certain time.

That Tweet makes me wonder if it was just a temporary thing to promote Twitter’s language translation project. I’m hoping it will come back, but as of now there is no official word from the company on while it disappeared. Anyways, it was fun while it lasted.
